Introduction

We’re excited to introduce HSRD-100, a free dataset of 100 high-quality 3D human scans, released by Digital Reality Lab and hosted on Hugging Face.
It’s part of our growing collection on Hugging Face ↗ and the larger HumanScanRepository project — a professional library of 3D human data for AI, graphics, XR, and research.

What’s inside HSRD-100

• 100 scans: 10 individuals × 10 unique poses
• High-resolution photogrammetry: captured via a 112-camera rig
• Multi-LOD meshes:
  • LOD0 ≈ 1 M polygons + 16 K textures
  • LOD1 ≈ 100 K polygons + 8 K textures
  • LOD2 ≈ 10 K polygons + 4 K textures
• Metadata: person_meta.json, pose_meta.json, scan parameters, and file manifests
• Source data: RealityCapture projects, photographic sets, and preview images
• License: CC BY-4.0 — free for academic + commercial use (with attribution)

Applications

• AI & Computer Vision: pose estimation, reconstruction, segmentation, neural rendering
• 3D Graphics & Avatars: realistic human base meshes for games, film, XR
• Virtual Fashion: simulate garment fitting and cloth behavior on real human geometry
• Education & Prototyping: compact dataset for universities and labs

Limitations

While HSRD-100 demonstrates quality and balance, it’s a compact dataset:

• Only 10 individuals → limited demographic diversity
• 10 poses per subject → no extreme or dynamic motions
• Captured in studio lighting → consistent but not “in-the-wild”
  For large-scale ML or production research, use the full HumanScanRepository (20 000+ scans).

All subjects provided informed consent; no biometric identification or surveillance uses are permitted.
